The New Architecture

The exhibition buildings of the historisches museum are located between the Main, Saalgasse and Am Fahrtor. The freshly renovated ensemble facing the river consists of the Toll Tower, the Bernus Building, the Burnitz Building and the Saalhof Chapel.

On the Römerberg side there is presently nothing but a large construction site. In place of the old exposed concrete building of the early 1970s, a modern new exhibition building and a small administration building are presently under construction, to be completed in 2015.

Their entrances will both face an open space between them, which will also serve as a public square.
