Back to 1410. Media Literacy Exhibition for children aged 8 and up

About the exhibition

  • 26-03-28 – 27-02-07

Starting in March 2026, visitors to the Junges Museum Frankfurt will be able to travel back in time to the year 1410 and immerse themselves in a digital-analog medieval world. Through various activities, they will playfully expand their media knowledge and return to the present as true time travelers. Twenty-one hands-on stations—analog, digital, analog-digital—invite visitors to explore nine areas of media literacy.

What happens when digital and analog worlds merge in one space? In the exhibition “Back in 1410,” visitors become protagonists in an interactive journey through time. They master challenges, solve puzzles, and interact with characters from the digital world in order to advance in the game.

Right at the beginning, they encounter an inventor rat. With his time machine, they travel back to the Middle Ages – to the year 1410. But a 600-year leap in time is too much for the time machine, and all its energy is used up. To return, the battery must be recharged! Visitors are tasked with exploring the medieval city, solving puzzles, and getting to know residents who need their help. With a game card, they can log in at each station, view their game score, and orient themselves on the city map. At the various stations, they collect badges that can be exchanged for energy for the time machine. The rat accompanies them on their journey through the city.
