The permanent exhibition Frankfurt Jetzt! can be seen on the top floor of the exhibition building. The Frankfurt Model, the Library of Generations and changing Stadtlabor exhibitions can be seen here on around 1,000 square meters. In the Stadtlabor, we explore our city together with Frankfurters. In the exhibitions and events, we constantly present new aspects of life in the city. Our motto: Show me your Frankfurt!
What is life like in Frankfurt? Who are the people of Frankfurt? And how do they experience the city? Who better to answer these questions than the people of Frankfurt themselves? They are the experts on the city. With the Library of Generations and the City Lab, the Historical Museum offers two exhibitions in which people's own history and personal experience of the city can be made visible and shared with others.
In the Stadtlabor, exhibitions and events on changing themes of the city are created together with Frankfurters. It is constantly changing: with new topics, new questions and methods as well as constantly changing people.
The Library of Generations is an artistic remembrance project initiated by Sigrid Sigurdsson, which is filled with life by over 200 authors. The authors include individuals, institutions, groups and initiatives.
The photo project "In Frankfurter Gesellschaft" by Anna Pekala and Florian Albrecht-Schoeck provides insights into the lives of Frankfurters. A selection of the photographs is installed in the window niches in the permanent exhibition.
Frankfurt model
The more than 70 square meter city model shows Frankfurt as it was described by 1,166 Frankfurt residents in 2015. It is an artistic model of the city that was created by many Frankfurters and the artist Herman Helle from everyday objects, found objects, packaging or curious materials.
