On the following german holidays the museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.:
December 25, 2025 (Christmas Day)
December 26, 2025 (2nd Christmas Day, Boxing Day)
December 31, 2025 (New Years Eve)

The Porzellan Museum Frankfurt remains closed on all public holidays. It is only open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The museum presents the history of the city of Frankfurt from its beginnings to the present day. It offers insights into different eras, urban developments and significant historical events.

Around 1.5 to 2 hours is ideal for exploring the exhibitions at your leisure.

Yes, the media guides are available in German, English and simple language. They can be borrowed at the ticket desk for a small fee. The media guide can also be accessed online free of charge using your own smartphone.

There are several parking garages nearby. The closest one is the Dom/Römer parking garage, about a 5-minute walk from the museum.

A free checkroom and lockers are available to visitors.

  • Subway lines U4, U5 (Dom/Römer)
  • Streetcars 11, 12 (Römer/Paulskirche) approx. 5 minutes on foot from the stops via Römerberg in the direction of Mainufer.
  • S-Bahn 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 to Frankfurt-Hauptwache, approx. 10 minutes on foot in the direction of Römer.

Yes, there is a store in the museum with books, souvenirs and mementos of Frankfurt's history.

The museum offers a variety of educational programs for school classes. All offers for school classes up to grade 7 can be found on the website of the Young Museum, for school classes from grade 8 here.

The exhibition texts are available in German and English. We also offer a themed tour of the museum's highlights in Mandarin.

Children aged 10 and over can explore the museum on their own. Younger children should be accompanied by a supervisor aged 16 and over.
